A managed forex account in one paragraph
A managed forex account is a trading account that belongs to you but is traded by someone else. You fund the account, a manager places and closes the trades, and you can see the results. The manager is usually paid a share of the profit rather than a flat salary, so their income depends on how the account performs.
That is the whole idea. Everything else, from how the money is held to how fees are worked out, is detail. But the detail is where good and bad arrangements differ, so it is worth understanding before you sign up for anything.

How a managed forex account works, step by step
Most managed accounts follow the same basic flow, even if the wording changes from provider to provider:
- You sign up with the manager and agree to their terms, including the fee and how withdrawals work.
- A trading account is opened with a broker. In a dedicated setup, this account is yours alone and is not mixed with other clients' money.
- You fund the account. The manager tells you which payment methods they accept and how long a deposit takes to show.
- The manager receives trading access only. They can open and close trades, but the account is set up so you can watch it.
- You get read-only access, often called an investor login, so you can see the balance, open positions and trade history whenever you like.
- Fees are taken according to the agreed rules, and you can request withdrawals under the terms you accepted.

What an investor (read-only) login lets you see
An investor login is a second password for a trading account that can view everything but change nothing. You can log in with the broker's trading app and see open trades, closed trades, balance and equity in real time. You cannot place trades with it, and neither can anyone you share it with.
This matters because it gives you an independent view. You are not only reading numbers from the manager's website; you are looking at the broker's own record of the account. If what you see in the broker's app does not match what the manager tells you, that is a clear warning sign.

How managed accounts are usually paid for
Managers are normally paid in one of three ways: a fixed management fee charged whatever happens, a performance fee taken from profits, or a mix of both. A performance fee is easier to understand, but the exact rule matters a lot. Ask whether it is charged per trade or per period, and what happens after a losing stretch.
GrowX charges a performance fee of 30% of the profit of each profitable closed trade. Losing trades have no fee, and the loss is borne by your account in full. The fees page has the current wording, and our guide on how performance fees work explains the maths with simple examples.

What to check before you open a managed forex account
Whoever you choose, run through this list first. A good provider will be able to answer every point clearly and in writing:
- Whose name is the trading account in, and which broker holds it?
- Is the account dedicated to you, or is your money pooled with other clients?
- Will you get an investor (read-only) login so you can watch the account yourself?
- Exactly how is the fee calculated, and when is it taken?
- How do withdrawals work, how long do they usually take, and what can delay them?
- Are results shown live and in full, including losing trades, or only as selected screenshots?
- Does the provider avoid promising returns? Anyone who guarantees profit in leveraged trading is not being honest about the risk.
- Is there a real company name, clear terms and a way to contact a person?

Red flags to watch for
Be careful with any offer that promises fixed monthly returns, pushes you to deposit quickly, cannot tell you which broker holds the money, or refuses read-only access. Be equally careful with results you cannot verify. Screenshots are easy to edit; a live account view is much harder to fake.
That is why GrowX publishes results live at growxfx.com/live. You can see trading activity as it happens rather than relying on a monthly summary.

Next steps
If a managed account sounds right for you, read the How it works page, check the fees, and look through the FAQ. When you are ready, you can create an account. If anything is unclear, email [email protected] before you deposit.
Frequently asked questions
Do I keep control of my money in a managed forex account?
In a dedicated managed account the trading account is held for you at a broker and you can watch it at any time through an investor (read-only) login. The manager controls the trading decisions, and withdrawals follow the provider's terms.
Can a managed forex account lose money?
Yes. Forex and CFD trading is leveraged and high-risk, and you can lose some or all of your deposit. No manager can guarantee profit, and past results do not guarantee future results.
What is an investor login?
It is a read-only password for a trading account. It lets you see balance, equity, open trades and history in the broker's app, but it cannot place or close trades.
